For a digital illustration class, I had to design a series of three skateboards that had a theme of cultural relevance or a current issue. My theme was the different issues facing bird species populations. The illustrations were hand drawn and converted to vector in Adobe Illustrator.

pheasant

The pheasant represents the bird species that have been hunted for sport or food that have been pushed into or near extinction.

pelican

Countless species of sea bird and other sea life are devastated by oil spills. The Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill in 2010 spilled approximately 206-210 million gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico.

vulture

The population of vultures in Africa has declined severely in recent years due to poisonings and hunting for witchcraft and superstition.
