Quetzalcoatlus
Quetzalcoatlus nothropi | procreate | 2021
Quetzalcoatlus was a massive pterosaur named for the Aztec god, Quetzalcoatl. It was as tall as a giraffe and had a 40ft wingspan, making it the largest living thing to ever fly. I’ve shown it here stalking a volcanic landscape searching for easy prey as ash starts to fall. Small birds feed on pests and insects that hide in its pycnofibers. A snake hides under a rock, a reference to the feathered serpent god that Quetzalcoatlus is named after. A smaller, non specific pterosaur flies past in the foreground.
